Born in The Netherlands on April 9, 1947. Graduated as a vet in January 1975. Three years of specialisation in Theriogenology. Private practice in the south and the east of The Netherlands for 2 years. PhD in dairy herd health in 1984. Associate professor in Herd health in 1984. Full professor in Animal Husbandry, Wageningen Agricultural University NL 1988-1998. Full professor in Ruminant health care and Ambulatory practice NL 1998-2005. Invited professor in Gent (B), Nantes (F) and Lyon (F). Invited professor for instructing practitioners in France. Published over 300 papers and 6 books. Invited lecturer in many congresses. Currently, international dairy consultant and farm auditor.
